Cecere Scores Five in Win Over Palm Beach Atlantic

Box Score

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville extended its winning streak to three with a 14-7 victory over the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic University on a windy day at Pepsi Stadium. The game remained close until six unanswered goals by the Crusaders starting in the 2nd quarter put the game on ice. Thomas Cecere led the way with 5 goals.

Palm Beach Atlantic got things started with a very early goal. From there, NGU responded with three straight goals to close out the opening quarter, two by Thomas Cecere and the other by Nolan Drop. Cecere ended the quarter with a goal that snuck in just before the clock hit zero to give NGU a 3-1 lead after one.

PBA would have the momentum through the first part of the 2nd quarter, scoring four of the next six goals to tie the game at 5-5. In that stretch, North Greenville's two goals were scored by Austin Dixon and Gunnar Wilson. Cecere would give the Crusaders the lead back with a goal that was assisted by Wilson. Cecere and Wilson would score two goals each to close out the 2nd quarter, putting NGU ahead 9-5 at halftime.

North Greenville's consecutive goal streak would continue early on in the 3rd quarter, with a goal by Cecere and a goal by Austin Zumbado to extend the streak to six straight goals for the Crusaders. Palm Beach Atlantic would finally end the streak with a goal by Jonah Robertson, but Dixon quickly responded with a goal for NGU that was followed by nearly five scoreless minutes to end the quarter.

The Sailfish once again were the first to score in the 4th quarter. Chris Wieckhorst went on to score his first goal of the game to put NGU back up by six. PBA refused to go down without a fight, posting the next two goals to cut their deficit to four. However, Blake Thompson and Dixon put any doubts to rest with goals late in the quarter. Palm Beach Atlantic did score the final goal of the game, but NGU would hang on without any issue to win by seven.

NGU will head back on the road to face the Lions of Mars Hill University in Mars Hill, North Carolina on Wednesday, March 11th.
