NGU Starts Off Weekend With Win Over Emmanuel

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville took a 13-6 victory over the Lions of Emmanuel College this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. The Crusaders scored 13 runs on 18 hits and were assisted by 2 errors from the Lions. Jordan Holladay led NGU in hits with 3 while Michael Neustifter posted 2 hits including a home run. Ethan Garner was the winning pitcher.

The game began with two scoreless innings including a three up, three down 1st inning by both teams. In the bottom of the 3rd, North Greenville would be the first to strike in the game, posting three runs off of RBIs by Doug Angeli, Jordan Holladay, and Michael Neustifter. The Lions would get on the board in the top of the 5th with an RBI groundout. However, the Crusaders instantly responded with two additional runs in the bottom of the inning including a sacrifice fly by John Michael Faile and an RBI single by Holladay. Emmanuel would wake up in the top of the 7th to score three runs. In the bottom of the inning, NGU would take advantage of two errors by the Lions to score four unearned runs including a two-RBI double by Josh Senter, an RBI single by Holladay, and an RBI single by Aaron Adams. After two runs by Emmanuel in the top of the 8th, the Crusaders would yet again respond in the bottom of the inning, this time with a three-run home run by Neustifter. Cade Spikes saw his first action on the mound as a Crusader, pitched a scoreless 9th inning to close out the game. 

The series will continue tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for noon.
