Box Score Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders wrapped up the regular season with a 73-63 loss to the Tornado of King University in Hayes Gymnasium. Jalon Cokley had a solid game to end the regular season with 22 points and 11 rebounds while Joe Conley posted a double-double of his own with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The first ten minutes of the first half proved to be highly competitive as the lead would exchange hands several times throughout. Tied at 13-13, a five point run by the Crusaders would put them ahead 18-13 with 9:15 remaining in the half. However, King quickly responded with five points of their own to tie things back up. The Tornado would go on to lead by as much as seven in the half, but NGU responded with seven straight points to tie up the game yet again. King was able to score the final five points of the half to take a 37-32 lead into halftime.
King would score the first points of the second half in the form of a three pointer. The Tornado would hold on to that momentum, opening up a fourteen point lead just under five minutes into the game. Shooting would cool down for both teams, but King would continue to hold on to a double digit lead. Trailing by ten, two free throws by Cokley followed by a layup by Joe Conley put NGU within striking distance, but King was able to open the lead back up, ultimately winning the game by ten.
With the regular season in the books, the Crusaders will once again face the King Tornado to begin the Conference Carolinas Tournament on Tuesday, March 3rd in Bristol, Tennessee.
