Darkness Results in Tie With Lynn

Box Score

North Greenville faced tough conditions in Boca Raton, Florida as wet conditions led to 6 errors between the two teams before darkness resulted in an 11-11 tie, the program's first since 2008. Starter Seth Chestnut allowed just one earned run, but errors led to five unearned runs to allow the Fighting Knights to stay in the game. Brady West was strong at the plate today, going 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored and a walk.

NGU quickly got on the board in the top of the 1st with an RBI single through the left side by Jordan Holladay. After Lynn responded in the bottom of the inning with a run, the Crusaders would put up a solid 2nd inning, scoring three runs including a solo shot by Brady West. Lex Tuten and Douglas Angeli contributed in the inning with RBI singles. Angeli would add to the NGU lead in the 4th by way of an RBI single. However, the Crusaders would commit three errors in the bottom of the inning, allowing Lynn to score five in the inning to take a 6-5 lead. North Greenville would recover in the top of the 5th when Collin Watt and West drove in two runs to put the Crusaders back on top, but the Fighting Knights would respond with a two run homer to reclaim the lead. Lead changes would continue in the 6th inning when an RBI triple by Michael Neustifter and an error gave NGU another one run lead. That was followed by yet another two run home run by Lynn. In the top of the 7th, Josh Senter tied the game with an RBI single to shortstop. Angeli would then give the Crusaders an 11-10 lead with an RBI groundout, but an RBI double to center field forced an 11-11 tie. NGU had something cooking in the top of the 8th, but the inning would be abandoned due to darkness.

The Crusaders will play in a rare Sunday matchup tomorrow against the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic University.
