Conley's Big Game Tops Chowan

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders completed a comeback victory with a final score of 88-79 over the Hawks of Chowan University. NGU fell behind 44-37 at the half, but went on to outscore CU 51-35 in the second half. Joe Conley scored his career-best 30 points.

Chowan carried the momentum early on, carrying an 11-5 run to begin the game. NGU quickly recovered with a strong run of their own to lead by as much as eight. Trailing 33-27 with 6:10 remaining in the first half, the Hawks were able to get rolling to close out the half with a 16-4 run to take a 44-37 lead into halftime.

Continuing their run from the first half, Chowan began the second half with a three pointer to lead by ten. From there, Joe Conley would single-handedly get NGU back into the game by scoring eleven of the next twelve points to tie the game at 48-48. Four more ties would follow before a jump shot by Conley and a three pointer by Jacob Redding put the Crusaders up by five with 6:15 left in the game. Chowan would pull within three, but free throws allowed to pull away late with an 8-3 run to go on to win the game by nine.

NGU will be on short rest yet again as they will return to action on Wednesday, January 22nd in Tigerville to face the Emmanuel College Lions.
