Erin Allen Post Twelve Kills in Loss to Lee

Box Score

North Greenville began the USC Aiken Invitational Tournament with a 3-0 loss to the Flames of Lee University in Aiken, South Carolina. NGU was competitive in the match, dropping two of the three sets by just two points. Erin Allen had a productive match with 12 kills and 28 total attacks.

The Flames began the match with an early lead, but the Crusaders responded with a 5-0 run that included 4 attack errors by LU. NGU led by as much as 3 before Lee scored 6 consecutive points to take a 16-13 lead. LU would reach set point, but the Crusaders were able to extend the set with 2 consecutive points including a kill by Emma Pepper. However, a service error followed by an attack error allowed the Flames to ultimately take the set 26-24. North Greenville finished the set with a .190 attack percentage.

Lee quickly jumped out to a 7-2 lead to begin the second set. Two straight kills by Erin Allen put NGU back into the set trailing 7-4. From there, the set would go back and forth with neither team able to put together much of a run. That would change, however, when LU ended the set with a 7 point run to win it 25-14. The Flames were productive offensively in the set with a .367 attack percentage while NGU posted a .100 percentage.

After Lee took an early 8-5 lead to begin the third set, North Greenville would come back strong with a 7-1 run to lead 12-9. Momentum would swing back and forth in the middle of the set when a 6 point run by Lee was followed by a 5-1 run by NGU. The two reams remained even throughout the remainder of the set, and would force extra points. Ultimately, LU would put an end to the match with two consecutive kills to end the set 26-24.

North Greenville will take a quick breather, then will face the Pacers of USC Aiken at 2:30.
