Crusaders fall to 2nd ranked Limestone

Tigerville – North Greenville men’s lacrosse remained winless in Conference Carolinas play after falling to second ranked Limestone College 21-10.

The Saints used a big first quarter to seize momentum, scoring eight unanswered goals to take an 8-0 lead. North Greenville got on the board with 23-seconds left on the clock when Matt Somjak scored his eighth goal of the season to cut the deficit to seven.

NGU tried to claw back in the second quarter outscoring the saints 4-3. Austin Dixon cut Limestone’s lead to 9-2 after an early goal from the Saints while Alex Proly tacked on a pair of scores, one at the 49-second mark. Derrick Shealy also got in on the action as NGU trailed by six at intermission.

The #2 Saints added five more goals in each of the third and fourth quarters. NGU tacked on two in the third and three more in the fourth. Three of the five scores came from Derrick Shealy who finished with a game high four scores.

Alex Proly finished with two goals. Cameron Mayer finished the night with eight saves against one of the nation’s best offenses. Jon Watson led the Crusaders with eight groundballs while Colin Courtney had three caused turnovers to lead NGU.
