Box Score NGU suffered its first conference loss of the season to the Southern Wesleyan Warriors with a final score of 82-74 in Central, South Carolina. Once again, the Crusaders had a solid day offensively, shooting 44.8% but 16 second chance points as well as 10 points off turnovers by SWU proved to be costly. Ryan Mobley led the team with 19 points. DJ Brooks also had another productive game, scoring 17 points.
North Greenville took a 1-0 lead prior to the game when a technical foul that was called due to a malfunctioning shot clock allowed CJ Jamison to shoot free throws. SWU would begin the game with five straight points. NGU would then respond with five points of their own to lead 6-5 early on. From there, the Warriors would take over the lead and pull away with a 7-1 run. They would spend the next several minutes increasing the lead, eventually leading by twelves with just over six minutes remaining in the half. The Crusaders were able to chip away at the deficit, but a three pointer by Southern Wesleyan just before the buzzer put SWU up 40-31 at halftime.
Mason Zick started the second half off with a jump shot to cut the deficit to seven. However, Southern Wesleyan would score the next nine points to take a sixteen point lead. A few minutes later, momentum would shift to NGU as DJ Brooks would get the Crusaders back into the game with eight straight points including two three pointers, cutting the Southern Wesleyan lead down to ten points. Ryan Mobley would follow that up with a three of his own. North Greenville continued to shoot well for the next several minutes, but Southern Wesleyan began to heat up as well to stay within a comfortable lead. Both teams would then cool down at the same time, with the Crusaders unable to cut the deficit to less than eight.
The Crusaders will head to Due West, South Carolina to face the Erskine Flying Fleet on Tuesday, December 3rd.
