Box Score Tigerville, SC - NGU was able to get back on track with a 71-70 victory over the Piedmont International Bruins in a nonconference matchup. The Crusaders had a strong first half, leading by nine points at the half. Although the Bruins were able to close the gap in the second half, NGU hung on to take the victory in the end. Kovi Tate posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
1st Half
NGU pulled away early on by scoring the first eight points of the contest. The Crusaders went on to take a 20-6 lead before PIU took the momentum and closed the gap with an 11-0 run. Piedmont International was able to close the deficit all the way down to one point, but the Crusaders were finally able to take the momentum and went into halftime with a 39-30 lead. Caleb Arrington led in points with nine.
2nd Half
Both teams were able to score early on in the second half. Down 55-44, Piedmont International took the momentum with a 13-0 run to take the lead 57-55. The Crusaders were able to take the lead back and did not relinquish it for the remainder of the game. Down by four, the Bruins put up a last second three pointer, but the Crusaders ultimately would be the victors.
Individual
Kovi Tate double-doubled with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Daniel Burchette led in scoring with 19 points.
Caleb Arrington scored 18 points.
