North Greenville Unable to Close Gap in Second Half, Falls to Erskine

NGU was unable to recover from a four-point deficit at the end of the first half, and ultimately fell to the Erskine Flying Fleet 71-58. The Crusaders were able to close out the first half with the momentum, but a slow start to the second half proved costly as the Fleet pulled away for good. Ryan Mobley led North Greenville with thirteen points.

1st Half

The Crusaders came out of the gate on fire, hitting their first four three-point shots to take an early 12-5 lead. From there, the scoring would come to a halt for NGU as they would hit just two jumpshots in nearly seven minutes of play. Erskine claimed its first lead of the game with 6:18 remaining in the first half with the score 20-19. They would follow with a 6-0 run before North Greenville responded with a 7-4 run to make the score 30-26 in favor of the Flying Fleet heading into halftime.

2nd Half

Erskine would be the team to get off to a strong start in the second half, scoring the first twelve points and taking a 42-26 lead. The Crusaders were then finally able to get going in the half. Four-consecutive points by Caleb Arrington gave North Greenville hope as the deficit would be cut to seven points, but from there Erskine would pull away once again and lead by as much as nineteen. NGU closed out the game with the final six points, but EC would take a thirteen-point victory. 

Individual

Ryan Mobley led the Crusaders with 13 points. He also recorded 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.

Daniel Burchette put together a good performance with 11 points, 4 steals, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Roderick Howell posted 10 points, 6 rebounds, and a block.

Upcoming

North Greenville will head back on the road Monday, January 21st to face the Emmanuel College Lions in Franklin Springs, Georgia.
