Pepper Leads in Attacks as NGU falls to Erskine

North Greenville was unable to take a set on the road against the Erskine Flying Fleet. The Crusaders improved as the match went on, but Erskine was able to put the match away in three straight sets.

Set 1

A slow start by NGU allowed the Fleet to take a 7-3 lead early on. The Crusaders pulled within 2, but Erskine would pull away from there by going on a 9-3 run. EC capped off the set with 5-straight points to win the set 25-13.

Set 2

The majority of the second set was much more competitive. Neither team was able to pull ahead by more than 3 until Erskine scored 5 of the final 7 points to take the set 25-20.

Set 3

Set 3 started off even with a 5-5 score early on. A 5-1 run by the Fleet made it seem that North Greenville would go down without a fight, but the proved to not be the case. The Crusaders would go on a run of their own, scoring 5 of 6 points to bring the score to 19-17 in favor of Erskine. NGU was able to pull within 1, but attack errors late in the set proved costly as EC would put the set away 25-22.

Individual

Emma Pepper led the Crusaders in total attacks with 20. She also recorded 5 kills and 4 digs.

Courtney Williamson once again led in kills with 7.

Sara Miller recorded 22 assists and 11 digs.

Upcoming

NGU will have a quick turnaround and will travel to Franklin Springs, Georgia to face the Emmanuel Lions tomorrow afernoon.
