Lees MCrae, N.C.—The North Greenville men’s basketball team opened the new decade holding off a Lees McRae second half comeback to beat the Bobcats 77-74.
The Crusaders had a comfortable lead of 16 points with 2:29 minutes left but were outscored 19-6 in the last two minutes. The Crusaders shot an impressive 69 percent from the field and 58 percent from the three point line. In the first half the Crusaders were 4 of 5 (80%) from three and 12 of 17 (71%) from the field. The shooting percentage dropped slightly in the second half as the Crusaders were 3 of 7 (43%) from the three point line and 10 of 15 (67%) from the field.
Forward Paul Harrison lead the Crusaders registering his second “double-double” of the season scoring 35 points and collecting 10 rebounds. Luke Lattimer also scored in double digits with 18 points going 4 of 7 from the three point line.
“We played extremely well to build a big lead but had to hang on for a good road win against a Conference Carolinas opponent,” said head coach Chad Lister, “Paul Harrison and Luke Lattimer came up big for us tonight and displayed a great deal of resilience.”
The win puts North Greenville at 6-4 on the season. The next game for the Crusader’s will be a home contest against Warren Wilson College at 7pm.
