The North Greenville Trailblazers put together an impressive performance offensively, hitting eight home runs and a total of eleven extra-base hits to defeat the Wasps of Emory & Henry with a final score of 19-7 in Emory, Virginia.
Jake Monroe took the mound for his 6th start of the season. NGU would pull away early on, starting with a solo home run by
Brett Blomquist and a two-run home run by
Tristan Salinas in the 1st inning. After a run by the Wasps in the bottom of the inning, NGU would put four additional runs on the board with a three-run home run by
Landon Peavy and a solo home run by
Alton Gyselman.
Thomas Powell would connect for a home run of his own in the 3rd, scoring two more runs to lead 9-1. Emory & Henry would close the gap, however, with a run in the bottom of the 3rd and four runs in the 4th. NGU would answer with four runs of their own in the 5th with solo home runs by
Jake Sears,
Landon Peavy, and
Bryce Roddey as well as an RBI single by
Alton Gyselman.
Bryce Roddey recorded another RBI in the top of the 7th with an RBI single. E&H scored a run in the 8th by way of a balk, but the Trailblazers would pull away even further with five insurance runs in the 9th including an RBI single by
Landon Peavy and a bases-loaded walk by
Matthew Albritton.
Oliver Adams closed things out by pitching the final two innings as NGU would leave Emory with a twelve run win.
Landon Peavy finished a solid day with four RBIs including two home runs and a double as well as five RBIs, and three runs scored.
Tristan Salinas posted three hits including a home run and a double in addition to three RBIs, two runs, and a walk.
Alton Gyselman recorded three hits including a home run as well as two runs scored and two RBIs.
North Greenville will face the Cobras of Coker University on Wednesday, March 26th in Hartsville, South Carolina.
