The North Greenville Trailblazers put together a 14-7 victory over the Cobras of Coker University this evening in Hartsville, South Carolina. Half of NGU's runs came in the first inning as a seven-run inning proved to be enough to hang on to a comfortable lead throughout the remainder of the game.
Josh Foulks got things started with a bases-clearing double down the left field line. After an RBI single by
Brayden Renfrow,
Landon Peavy would record three more RBIs with a home run to left field. Coker was able to get on the board with a run in the 2nd and a run in the 3rd. Coker would get on the board with a run in the 2nd and a run in the 3rd.
Landon Peavy and
Tristan Salinas would both hit home runs in the 4th to increase the North Greenville lead to eight with a score of 10-2. Three more runs would come across in the 5th inning, starting with a wild pitch that allowed
Gideon Antle to score. With the bases loaded,
Landon Peavy would hit an RBI single to center field. Then,
Bryce Roddey would collect an RBI single of his own to put North Greenville ahead 13-2. The Cobras responded in the bottom of the inning with two runs. In the 7th,
Bryce Roddey would post another RBI to increase the lead to ten. Coker would close things out with the final three runs with one in the 7th and two runs in the 8th. However,
Matthew Taubensee would close things out with a scoreless 9th inning.
Brent Stukes recorded the win.
Brayden Renfrow went four for five at the plate with a triple, two runs, an RBI, and a stolen base.
Landon Peavy hit two home runs and posted a total of three hits, five RBIs, and three runs scored.
Connor Brinson pitched 3.0 solid innings of relief, allowing just one earned run on two hits, a walk, and a hit batter while striking out four.
North Greenville will face the Flying Fleet of Erskine College on Friday, March 28th at Ray & Bea Dillard Field.
