The North Greenville Trailblazers began their trip to Hawaii with a 6-4 victory over the Sharks of Hawai'i Pacific University in Honolulu, Hawaii. Things got off to a good start for NGU as three runs including a two-RBI single by
Tristan Salinas put the Trailblazers up 3-0 early on. After three scoreless innings, the Sharks would get on the board with a solo shot to left center in the 5th inning. However, NGU would bounce back with RBI singles by
Thomas Powell and
Landon Shaw in the 6th. After a run by Hawaii Pacific in the 7th, North Greenville responded with a solo home run by Jakes Sears in the top of the 8th. Although HPU was able to make things interesting with a two-RBI triple in the 8th, but
Matthew Taubensee would record the final four outs of the game to end the rally and earn the save.
Brody Fowler pitched the first 5.0 innings and received the win. The Trailblazers ended the game with nine hits including a home run and a double while also recorded four stolen bases.
Jake Sears hit both of NGU's two extra-base hits, hitting a home run and a double while also recording two runs scored and an RBI.
Landon Shaw also posted two hits as well as an RBI.
Brody Fowler pitched 5.0 strong innings, allowing just one run on two hits with no walks allowed while striking out four.
North Greenville will take on the Silverswords of Chaminade University on Friday, February 7th at 11:00 PM Eastern Time.
