Trailblazers Clinch Series With Game Three Win at Shorter

Rome, GA – North Greenville clinched its first Conference Carolinas series of the season on Saturday with a 13 – 4 win over new-comer Shorter University.

North Greenville fell to the Hawks earlier in the day as the two teams completed game two from Friday. NGU trailed 1 - 0 before a pair of RBI singles in the third made it 2 - 1. The Hawks evened it with an RBI double. The Hawks took advantage of North Greenville misuces in the ninth inning, scoring the walkoff win on a throwing error on a throw down to third base.

North Greenville nabbed a comfortable five run lead headline by a two run homer from Landon Shaw in the second inning. Bryce Roddey tacked on a third run during the second frame with an inside the park home run fueled by a pair of errors by the hawks after Roddey singled to right field with two outs. A pair of runs in the fourth inning extended the lead for the Trailblazers.

Shorter added a big inning of its own in the sixth inning tagging NGU pitching for four runs including a two – run homer. The four run sixth cut North Greenville's lead to just one run.

The Trailblazers got back on track during the top half of the seventh. Gideon Antle and Josh Foulks both provided a long ball for NGU including Foulks who's two run blast made it 8 – 4. NGU added another run in the eighth and three – more in the ninth en route to the program's  series win over Shorter in their first ever meeting.
Jake Sears finished 2 – 4 with a pair of RBI and a run scored for NGU. Brett Blomquist and Bryce Roddey also had two hits each. Bennett Roemer earned the win for North Greenville throwing 5.2 innings allowing three earned runs on seven hits. He finished with six strikeouts.
