Women’s Basketball Announces Signing of Johnson and Workman for 2023

The North Greenville women's basketball program is adding two versatile pieces to its back/front court with the signing of Austin Johnson and Josie Workman to a National Letter of Intent, as announced by head coach Kelvin Long, Jr. on Friday. Johnson, a 5-foot-9 wing from Union, KY., will join the Ville in the Fall of 2023. "We are excited about Austin's ability to guard multiple positions and her skillset from the wing position, she has an unbelievable motor and plays so hard," Long Jr. said. "We are looking forward to adding that to our program." As a freshman under head coach Katie Haitz, Johnson helped a loaded Ryles High School to the 2019 KHSAA championship. For her efforts in 2022, she earned all-conference honors. Johnson, has been a 3 time Captain and won the all-defensive award for her team. Workman, a 5-foot-11 wing from Duncan, SC., will also join NGU in 2023.

"Josie has great size and is multi-faceted. She's got the ability to stretch the defense and she's grown as a player," Long Jr. said.

In the 2021-22 season at Byrnes High School, Workman averaged 12 points, 5 rebounds, and shot 44% from 3. Josie made all-region in her junior campaign.
