North Greenville Wins Battle of the Crusaders

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville found the back of the net five times in a 5-2 victory over the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey this afternoon at Pepsi Stadium. NGU led in total shots 20-8 with fourteen of them coming in the first half. The first four goals of the match belonged to NGU before Belmont Abbey was able to get on the scoreboard. With the win, North Greenville currently holds a 4-3-2 overall record and a 3-1-0 record in conference play.

Recap
  • It wouldn't take long for NGU to get on the scoreboard as Shelby Shepherd scored her third goal of the season with an assist by Megan Biehl off a free kick in the 4th minute of the match. Shepherd would score once again twelve minutes later with an assist by Kayla Cruse to get NGU up by two. North Greenville would go on to dominate the first half in shots 14-4 as the score remained 2-0 going into halftime.
  • Nearly twenty minutes into the second half, NGU would extend the lead to three when Romee Contreras scored her second goal of the season. In the 76th minute, Sarah Adcock scored her first goal as a Crusader to make the score 4-0. Very shortly after, Belmont Abbey scored a goal of their own to get on the scoreboard for the first time. With the game drawing near a close, the two teams would both score one more goal within the final ten minutes, with NGU's coming from Abby Mayer with an assist by Mackenzie Neff.
