Crusaders Erase Two Goal Deficit to Tie Lander

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders overcame a two goal deficit in the second half to ultimately tie the Lander Bearcats with a final score of 2-2 at Pepsi Stadium. NGU managed just three shots in the first half, but more than made up for it in the second half with twelve shots while allowing just three. The two teams both put up four shots in overtime, but time would run out without a golden goal being scored.

Recap
  • Lander would begin the match as the aggressors, posting five of the first six shots of the match. The fourth and fifth shots resulted in goals to put the Bearcats up 2-0. The Crusaders responded with the final two shots of the half but would come up empty, allowing Lander to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
  • North Greenville came to life to begin the second half, recording twelve of the first thirteen shots. During that span, Shelby Shepherd came through for a goal with an assist by Alexah Fite to put NGU on the board. Twenty minutes later, Romee Contreras scored the equalizer. The final ten minutes of the match would go by quietly with just one shot posted.
  • Both teams managed four shots in overtime, but a total of seven saves between the two goalkeepers prevented a winning goal from being scored, and both team would begin the 2021 season with a tie.
