North Greenville Comes Up Short Against Mount Olive

Box Score NGU fell to the Trojans of the University of Mount Olive with a final score of 79-60 at Kornegay Arena in Mount Olive, North Carolina. The Crusaders were unable to limit the Trojan offense, which shot 54.1% from the field. Journey Muhammed led in points with 13 while Kira Bell also hit double digits.

Recap
  • The Trojans took the momentum to begin the game, scoring six of the first seven points. A three pointer by Journey Muhammed and a layup by Peace Okeke would even up the score. Trailing 10-6, the Crusaders would score five points in a row to take an 11-10 lead. Mount Olive grabbed the lead back with a six point run. UMO would end the quarter with an 18-14 lead.
  • After a competitive beginning to the 2nd quarter, Mount Olive would pull away with an 11-0 run to take a commanding 38-22 lead. Haylee Luttrell would score NGU's final four points of the half by way of free throws, but the Trojans would take a 40-26 lead into halftime.
  • UMO would build up their lead even more to begin the 3rd quarter, scoring the first six points. Peace Okeke stopped the bleeding with a layup. After trailing by as much as 22, five different Crusaders would contribute with points for the remainder of the quarter, cutting the deficit to 16.
  • After a jumpshot by Mount Olive, Savannah would hit a three pointer as well as a layup to give NGU a five point run, bringing the Crusaders within thirteen. However, the Trojans would prevent the Crusaders from drawing any closer, ultimately winning the game by nineteen.

  • Journey Muhammed led the Crusaders with a 13 point performance. She also grabbed 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
  • Kira Bell also hit double digits, scoring 10 points. She also recorded 4 rebounds as well as 3 steals.
