Box Score Tigerville, SC - North Greenville wrapped up its regular season with a 2-1 victory over the Southern Wesleyan Warriors. The Crusaders finish the regular season with a 9-7 overall record and a 7-4 conference record, currently placing them 5th in the overall standings. Natalie Johnson scored her second goal of the season.
It didn't take long for NGU to get to work offensively, posting six shots within the first twenty minutes. With around ten minutes remaining in the first half, the Crusaders officially got on the board when an attempted header by SWU resulted in an own goal. The 1-0 lead by the Crusaders would remain as the score at halftime.
Southern Wesleyan would quickly tie things up in the second half when Heily Hernandez found the back of the net. From there, the Crusaders would once again take over offensively, and would eventually take the lead back when Natalie Johnson scored a goal in the 68th minute off a corner kick by Sarah Hazelwood. NGU would spend the remainder of the half possessing the ball and were able to keep the Warriors from putting together a quality possession to secure the win for NGU.
North Greenville will return to action in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament, beginning on Saturday, November 9th.
