NGU Unable to Bounce Back After Slow First Half

North Greenville suffered a 98-72 loss to the conference-leading Emmanuel Lions in Franklin Springs, Georgia. The Crusaders struggled in the first half with a 27.3 field goal percentage. Although they improved by shooting 47.1% in the second half, the Lions were able to outscore NGU in both halves. Roderick Howell led in points for the Crusaders with 11.

1st Half

Two minutes passed before the first points of the game were scored, which was a dunk by Emmanuel. After North Greenville responded with a jump shot by Daniel Burchette, the Lions scored the next seven points to lead 9-2. Trailing by ten with 12:23 remaining in the half, a three pointer by Ryan Mobley cut the deficit to seven. However, a 15-6 run by EC made the score 31-17 in favor of Emmanuel with 6:55 left in the half. In the bonus, NGU scored ten points by way of free throws in the final five minutes. After trailing by 21, Joe Conley scored the final points of the first half with a three pointer to make the score 50-32 in favor of Emmanuel going into halftime. North Greenville shot 27.3% in the half. Ryan Mobley led the Crusaders with eight points.

2nd Half

Both teams traded points early on, but the Lions began to pull away again with a 13-2 run. Trailing 79-53, North Greenville was able to go on a run of its own, scoring twelve of the next fourteen points to cut the deficit to seventeen points. However, the Lions responded with a 12-2 run, and would go on to win by 26 points. NGU did improve in the second half with a 47.1 field goal percentage. Caleb Arrington and Roderick Howell led with ten points for the half.

Individual

Roderick Howell led North Greenville with 11 points. He also posted 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, and an assist.

Kovi Tate scored 10 points and recorded 7 rebounds.

Caleb Arrington contributed with 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.
