Central, S.C.—The North Greenville Volleyball team added another first to it’s record breaking season Friday night beating Pensacola Christian College in straight sets but falling to Palm Beach Atlantic 3-0.
The win over Pensacola Christian was the first post season win for NGU’s volleyball team since becoming a four year institution in the early 90’s. The Crusaders match against the Eagles was never in doubt as North Greenville swept PCC with scores of 25-15, 25-13, and 25-16.
“We played one of our best matches of the year in all facits of the game against PCC,” remarked Greg Mosely after his team’s milestone win. “Lauren Hawkins played very well and Kaitlyn Pierce was very good on defense and also had 18 kills to help us out on offense; The whole team just played very well.”
The second match of the day for North Greenville came against perennial volleyball powerhouse Palm Beach Atlantic. The Sailfish took three straight sets from the Crusaders (25-15, 25-13, 25-16).
“They beat us soundly but I feel like we played well in spirts against Palm Beach. We competed well with them. All in all Im proud of the season the girl had. We set a bunch of mile stones and it was a good year for us.”
