The North Greenville Crusaders extended their winning streak to four with a 1-0 victory against the Emmanuel Lions in Franklin Springs, Georgia. With the win, NGU is now tied with Belmont Abbey for second place in the Conference Carolinas standings. After a scoreless first half, NGU's Taylor Harvey scored her first collegiate goal.
NGU would start the match with shots by Megan Biehl and Karly Denaburg. Both would be saved by Emmanuel goalkeeper Hannah Welch. The Lions would respond, posting two shots of their own. One of those shots was saved by Brianna Rowe. The remainder of the half would result in two shots by Emmanuel and five shots by the Crusaders. The half would come to a close with a scoreless tie.
Emmanuel would begin the second half with an early shot that was blocked. A red card just six minutes into the second half would force the Lions to play with just ten players for the remainder of the match. With just over ten minutes remaining in the game, NGU was finally able to take advantage when Taylor Harvey put away a cross from Ryan Kite. EC would fail to put up a shot in the remainder of the match, allowing the Crusaders to hang on for the victory.
North Greenville will take a break from conference play to face the UNC Pembroke Braves on Tuesday, October 15th in Tigerville.
