Franklin Springs, GA – North Greenville clinched its sixth Conference Carolinas regular season championship on Saturday with 12 – 10 and 16 – 3 wins over Emmanuel College in the final regular season double-header.
The Trailblazers piled up 17 hits, including five home runs in game one. Skyler Hegler led the offense by going 4-for-5 with five RBIs, while Thomas Powell, CJ Dean, Lane McGaha, and Kai Tullos each added a home run of their own.
After building a 12-5 lead, North Greenville had to weather a five-run eighth inning from Emmanuel before Connor Brinson closed the door in the ninth to record the save. Ben Leikam earned the win in relief, and the Trailblazers used timely hitting throughout the game to secure the series-opening victory.
The Trailblazers tallied 15 hits in game two and erupted for nine runs in the seventh inning to break open game two.
CJ Dean led the offensive surge with two home runs and three RBIs, while Thomas Powell added three hits and two RBIs. Josh Foulks, Jan Pospisil, and Connor McKee also homered as North Greenville powered its way to the lopsided victory.
On the mound, Matty Brown earned the win after tossing five innings and allowing just two earned runs, while the bullpen closed things out cleanly. After a brief 3-3 tie early, the Trailblazers took control with a four-run fourth inning before putting the game away in the top half of the last.
