Banner Elk, N.C. – North Greenville wrapped up the regular season on Saturday with a double header split against Lees – McRae winning 15 – 13 and falling 7 – 6 in game two.
After the teams traded runs early, North Greenville broke things open with a five-run third inning highlighted by home runs from
Lexie Metcalf and
Maddie Stone. They kept the pressure on with four more runs in the fourth and five in the fifth to build a 15–9 lead.
Lees-McRae refused to go away, erupting for eight runs in the fourth inning, capped by a pair of three-run homers in the fifth inning. The Bobcats added one more in the sixth, but couldn't complete the comeback.
North Greenville finished with 17 hits, led by
Sydney Price's four-hit performance and three RBIs, while Metcalf drove in three runs and homered.
Georgia Lieb earned the win in relief, holding off the late push to secure the victory.
Sydney Price went 4 – 5 in game one for NGU with a pair of RBI while
Maddie Stone was 3 – 4 with a homer and 2 RBI.
The Bobcats set the tone early, scoring four runs in the first inning including a grand slam, then adding another run in the second to take a 5–0 lead.
North Greenville chipped away, getting a solo homer from
Haylee Whitesides in the fourth and another run in the fifth. After being held quiet through six, the Trailblazers surged ahead in the seventh with a four-run inning, highlighted by Whitesides' second home run of the game—a three-run shot—to take a 6–5 lead.
The long ball proved to be the difference in the game as Lees-McRae delivered a two – run blast to walk off the Trailblazers and split the double-header.
Haylee white side finished the day going 4 – 7 overall with a double, triple, two homers and 4 RBI.
Lexie Metcalf finished 4 – 8 with a HR and three RBI.
