Yoriano Velez Vega Dominates on Senior Day as Trailblazers Defeat King

The North Greenville Trailblazers battled back from a two-set deficit to defeat King in a thrilling five-set match with scores of 22-25, 23-25, 25-12, 25-18, and 15-7 this afternoon at Hayes Gymnasium.

North Greenville found itself trailing early after dropping the first two sets in tightly contested fashion. However, the Trailblazers responded in dominant fashion in the third set, limiting King to just 12 points. NGU carried that momentum into the fourth with a strong offensive showing to even the match before closing things out convincingly in the fifth, hitting .471 in the final set to secure the comeback victory.

As a team, North Greenville totaled 59 kills on a .255 hitting percentage while adding 58 assists, 55 digs, and 18 total blocks. The Trailblazers improved their efficiency as the match progressed, committing just one attack error in the decisive fifth set.

Yoriano Velez Vega led the offense with 21 kills on a .341 hitting percentage while adding 10 digs. Logan Keothavy contributed 12 kills, 3 service aces, and 4 blocks, while Thomas Roper also recorded 12 kills. Landon Richter was highly efficient with 9 kills on a .438 hitting percentage along with 3 total blocks.

Andrew Copp orchestrated the offense with 49 assists while adding 8 digs and 4 total blocks.

North Greenville will face the Barton Bulldogs in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament on Wednesday, April 15th at Hayes Gymnasium.
