The North Greenville Trailblazers earned a doubleheader sweep over UNC Pembroke this afternoon in Pembroke, North Carolina, winning game one 7-2 and game two 4-2.
North Greenville came out swinging in game one, scoring a run in the 1st before breaking things open with a four-run 2nd inning. The big blow came on a three-run home run by C.J. Dean, while Josh Foulks added an RBI double earlier in the inning. NGU maintained control throughout, adding two more runs in the 7th to secure the 7-2 victory.
Game two proved to be more of a battle early on, as UNC Pembroke took a 2-0 lead through the first two innings. The Trailblazers chipped away with a solo home run by Josh Foulks in the 6th before taking the lead in the 7th. An RBI single by Jan Pospisil tied the game, and a clutch RBI single by Foulks gave NGU the lead. North Greenville added an insurance run in the 9th to seal the 4-2 win and complete the sweep.
C.J. Dean led the offense across both games, going 3-for-7 with a home run and 4 RBIs. Josh Foulks also had a strong day at the plate, finishing 3-for-8 with a home run and 3 RBIs. Jan Pospisil contributed 3 hits and 2 RBIs, while Thomas Powell added 3 hits and scored twice.
On the mound, Bennett Roemer earned the game one win with a complete game, allowing just 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 8. In game two, North Greenville's bullpen combined for 5.0 scoreless innings, with Caleb Cox earning the win.
NGU will take on the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial University on Tuesday, April 14th in Harrogate, Tennessee.
