Tigerville, SC – The North Greenville Trailblazers put together a complete performance to defeat Lander with a final score of 11-2 this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. NGU got on the board early with a solo home run by Thomas Powell in the 1st inning before adding two more runs in the 3rd on a two-RBI double by C.J. Dean to take a 3-0 lead. The Trailblazers continued to build momentum in the middle innings, adding two runs in the 5th with RBI hits from Josh Foulks and Lane McGaha. NGU extended the lead further in the 6th as Dean delivered again with a two-RBI double to make it 7-0. After several scoreless innings, North Greenville broke the game open in the 8th with four runs, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Samford Halcomb and a two-RBI single by Jan Pospisil. Lander would score two late runs in the 9th, but the Trailblazers comfortably secured the victory.
C.J. Dean led the offense with 2 hits and 4 RBIs, while Thomas Powell finished with 2 hits including a home run and an RBI. Samford Halcomb contributed 1 hit and 2 RBIs.
On the mound, Thayer Tavormina earned the win, striking out 5 batters over 2.0 scoreless innings. North Greenville's pitching staff combined to allow just 2 runs on 4 hits while recording 10 strikeouts in the game.
North Greenville will take on the Mountain Lions of Young Harris College on Friday, April 3rd at Ray & Bea Dillard Field.
