Due West, S.C. – North Greenville stayed atop the division standings on Friday sweeping a league double – header with Erskine 8 – 0 and 10 – 1. The wins improve the Trailblazers to 20 – 10 overall and 11 – 1 in league play.
The Trailblazers wasted little time getting down to business in game one as Haylee Whiteside drilled a two – run homer to make it 2 – 0. A three run second inning catapulted NGU to a five-run lead. A solo homer from
Sydney Price and a
Karley Green double made it 4 – 0 while an RBI double by Whiteside extended it to 5 – 0.
North Greenville added a run in each of the final three innings of the game to force a mercy rule finish.
Maddie Stone and
Lexie Metcalf bot collected RBI singles during the stretch. The game winner came from
Sydney Price who delivered her second homer of the game which made it 8 – 0.
Whiteside finished game one 3 – 3 with a run and three RBI to lead the offense. She also earned the win after throwing five scoreless frames.
Sydney Price was 2 – 3 with two runs and two RBI with a pair of homers.
Laci Jarrell was also 2 – 3.
It took a little longer for NGU to get going in game two, holding at a scoreless tie until North Greenville was able to break through in the fourth frame.
Lexie Metcalf brought around a run with an RBI single while
Jordan Slocum plated two with a base hit while
Sydney Price stayed hot with another RBI base knock.
Three runs in the fifth and another three runs in the seventh extended NGU's lead to 10 – 1.
Ansley Fowler delivered a two-run xsingle during the stretch to help NGU towards its second victory of the day.
Karley Green was credited with the win in game two allowing one run in six innings of work.
Emily Blackwell was 2 – 3 with two runs scored. Green helped her own cause going 2 – 3 with two runs and an RBI. Fowler finished 2 – 2 with two RBI and a run.
