Tigerville – North Greenville advanced its winning streak to seven games on Friday afternoon sweeping the Shorter Hawks 7 – 0 and 11 – 1 in a Conference Carolinas double-header.
The Trailblazers got things going in the first inning with three runs including an RBI single by
Ansley Fowler.
Maddie Stone earned an RBI with a bases loaded walk while Fowler would come around to score on a wild pitch later in the frame to score NGU's third run. After scoring one run in the fifth on a
Lexie Metcalf sac fly, North Greenville put up another crooked number with its second three – run frame of the day. Stone got things going with a solo homer to extend the lead to five while
Emily Blackwell's Rbi trip to left field also scored a run
Karley Green would bring in Blackwell on an RBI single.
North Greenville starter Haylee Whiteside would secure the win in the top of the seventh sitting the Hawks down in order. Whiteside threw a complete game, allowing just three hits while striking out four batters in the winning effort.
Ansley Fowler led NGU in game one going 3 – 4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Blackwell was 1 – 3 with two runs and an RBI as well. Stone finished 1 – 1 with a run and two RBI. She drew two walks.
The bats stayed hot in game two for the Trailblazers who once again got off to a quick start scoring two in the first inning on a Fowler RBI single and a
Lexie Metcalf sac fly. In the second inning
Emily Blackwell delivered the fireworks with an RBI triple that scored three runs. Blackwell would come around to score on a Green RBI single for the second time on Friday to make it 6 – 0.
A run in the fourth inning would not phase the Trailblazers who answered back quickly. Haylee Whiteside would get in on the action with a run scoring double along with
Jordan Slocum who singled in a run. NGU would get some help from the Hawks who allowed a run on an error before
Neely Hartin delivered a run scoring single that plated two runs which would prove to be the final nail as NGU earned the run – rule shortened win after the Hawks were held scoreless in the fifth.
Karley Green would earn the win in the circle for NGU while also leading the Trailblazers offensively going 3 – 3 with two RBI and a run.
Neely Hartin was 2 – 3 with her two RBI while Blackwell and Whiteside both had a hit. Blackwell finished with three RBI while Whiteside had an RBI and two runs scored.
