Gastonia, NC - The North Greenville Trailblazers suffered a tough day at CaroMont Health Park, falling to the Lions of Emmanuel University with a final score of 8-5. NGU led by as much as three in the middle innings, but timely hitting by the Lions as well as a total of five errors committed by the Trailblazers led to a rally in the late innings to put Emmanuel ahead.
Brody Fowler took the start on the mound. Things started with an early unearned run by Emmanuel in the 1st inning. NGU would immediately respond in the second with a solo home run by
Gideon Antle.
Tristan Salinas would then put North Greenville ahead in the top of the 3rd with an RBI single. Ahead by a run, NGU would increase the lead in the 5th with an RBI double by
Bryce Roddey and an RBI single by
Brett Blomquist. However, the Lions would come to life in the 6th, hitting a two-run home run as well as a sacrifice fly to tie the game. They would then take the lead with a solo home run in the 7th. The Trailblazers responded in the top fo the 8th with
Tristan Salinas scoring with the help of an error to tie the game. That tie wouldn't last long though, as things unraveled for North Greenville in the 8th as multiple errors led to three runs.
Bryce Roddey hit a single to reach base in the 9th, but that would be all the Trailblazers could do as the side would be retired without a run scoring.
Brody Fowler pitched all but the 9th inning. Only half of his allowed runs of eight would be earned, but he would ultimately take the loss.
Bryce Roddey posted three hits including a double as well as two runs score d and an RBI.
Gideon Antle posted two hits including a home run as well as an RBI and a run scored.
Brett Blomquist recorded a hit, an RBI, and a stolen base.
NGU will face the Barton Bulldogs tomorrow in Gastonia. The Trailblazers must win to remain in the tournament.
