Belmont, N.C. – North Greenville Men's Tennis delivered one of its biggest wins in the recent memory of the program, upsetting 41
st ranked Belmont Abbey 4 – 3.
The Trailblazers did it the hard way, winning four of six singles matches after falling in the doubles portion of the afternoon. NGU's lone doubles win came from
Christo Timini and
Daniel Johnson who won 7 – 5.
Juho Kantola and
Dean Kingsley fell 0 – 6 while
Will Hernandez and Gabriel Pegararo fell 6 – 4.
NGU picked up the big win by sweeping the first four doubles spots.
Christo Timini, who has now won his last four singles matches earned the win in the #1 spot, bouncing back from a set 1 loss to win 6 – 3/6 – 3.
Juho Kantola won the #3 singles after also bouncing back from a first set setback. Kantola won the final two sets 6 – 4/7 – 5.
Juan Arbelaez won the #4 singles match 6 – 4/7 – 6 (9-7).
Gabriel Pegoraro picked up the point in the #2 singles position with a hard earned 6 – 7 (9 – 7)/2 – 6/6 – 4 win. His victory secured the win for the Trailblazers.
Will Hernandez fell 1 – 6/0 – 6 while Dean Kinglsey fell 5 – 7/ 4 – 6.
