Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers took two games this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field to complete the sweep of the Emmanuel Lions, starting with a game one score of 10-4 then concluding the series with a 9-2 victory. NGU improved their overall record to 20-3 with a 9-3 record in conference play. The afternoon began with a two-run top of the 1st to give the Lions a 2-0 lead. North Greenville would get on the board in the bottom of the 2nd by way of an RBI single by
Thomas Powell. The Trailblazers would take the lead in the bottom of the 3rd with a three run inning including an RBI double by
Tristan Salinas. After a sacrifice fly by
Landon Shaw in the 4th, the Lions scored two runs in the 5th to cut the deficit down to one run. However, North Greenville would open the lead back up with five runs int he bottom of the inning.
Thomas Powell put the game out of reach with a grand slam to give NGU a 10-4 lead, which would go on to become the final score.
Bennett Roemer, who started the game, recorded his 5th win of the season. The Trailblazers would get things started on a positive note in game two with a two-run home run by
Tristan Salinas. The Lions would get on the board in the 3rd with a run, but NGU would respond in the bottom of the inning with three runs including a two-RBI double by
Matthew Albritton. Salinas would homer again in the 5th, once again putting two runs on the board. A sacrifice fly by Emmanuel put a second run on the board, but
Thomas Powell capped off the day with a two-run home run in the 7th.
Matty Brown started the game and picked up his third win of the season.
Thomas Powell had quite a day, finishing with four hits including a grand slam and another home run while posting a total of eight RBIs.
Brett Blomquist finished the afternoon with four hits including a triple and a double as well as three runs scored and an RBI.
Tristan Salinas hit two home runs as well as a double.
North Greenville will return to action on Tuesday, March 11th to take on the Wolves of Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina.
