Central, S.C. – North Greenville dropped a pair of league games to Southern Wesleyan on Saturday losing 9 – 7 and 10 – 2.
The Warriors scored five runs in the first inning and tacked on another in the third inning to make it 6 – 0. North Greenville broke through with a pair of runs to cut the deficit to four runs when
Maddie Stone homered in the fourth inning, tacking on two RBI. Southern Wesleyan answered with two more runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to end game one in mercy rule fashion.
Maddie Stone's two run homer was one of just two hits for NGU in game one.
Ansley Fowler delivered North Greenville's only other base knock.
SWU continued to put the pressure on North Greenville with a 6 – 0 lead in game two as the Trailblazer bats continued to struggle.
Lexie Metcalf put North Greenville on the board in the board in the fourth inning with a two RBI double. NGU trailed late but evened the score at seven with a four run seventh inning.
Maddie Stone and
Emily Blackwell both delivered RBI base hits during the frame.
Ali Hartin also collected an RBI with a sacrifice lineout.
NGU looked to send the game to extras but the Warriors delivered a two – out two – run walk off homer to complete the sweep.
Lexie Metcalf led North Greenville with two hits and three RBI.
Emily Dawson finished with two hits as well as an RBI.
