Belmont, N.C. – North Greenville split a conference series with Belmont Abbey on Tuesday winning 3 – 0 followed by a 5 – 4 loss.
The Trailblazers got on the board early in game one with a
Lexie Metcalf solo homerun in the third inning.
Ari Day singled in a run in the sixth while
Ali Hartin extended NGU's lead to three runs with an RBI base knock in the seventh. NGU pitching worked around some danger in the fourth inning when the Crusaders left the bases loaded. BAC stranded two more runners in the seventh inning.
Ari Day led NGU's offense going 2 – 3 with an RBI.
Ali Hartin finished 2 – 4 witn an RBI while Metcalf was 1 – 3 with her solo homer and RBI.
Kylie Rast improved to 6 – 1 as a starter with her win. She struck out 12 in the scoreless effort and allowed just three hits.
North Greenville took a two-run lead in the first inning of game two with a pair of RBI singles from
Maddie Stone and
Karley Green. NGU led 2 – 0 until the seventh inning when they added a pair of insurance runs on an
Ali Hartin sacrifice fly and a Green homer to extend it to 4 – 0. The Crusaders were able to rally in the home half of the seventh however scoring five runs on four hits. Three of the five runs including the game winning run were unearned as Abbey used two NGU errors to earn the walk off comeback victory.
Karley Green ended the game 3 – 4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Emily Blackwell was also 2 – 4 with two runs scored.
Karley Green was credited with the loss but gave up just one earned run.
