The North Greenville Trailblazers improved their overall record to 6-2 with wins over the Cavaliers of UVA Wise with a final score of 10-6 and the Bald Eagles of Lock Haven University with a final score of 4-2 in Wise, Virginia.
Karley Green and
Sydney Clark both recorded complete games while NGU finished the day with a total of fourteen runs and twenty-two hits. Game one started with a scoreless 1st inning, but NGU was able to get on the board in the 2nd inning with an RBI double by
Ansley Fowler. UVA Wise responded with a run in the bottom of the 2nd. Afterwards, the two teams both scored two runs in the 4th, which was followed by two scoreless innings. North Greenville struck in the top of the 7th with seven runs including two two-RBI doubles by
Emily Dawson and
Emily Blackwell. The Cavaliers fought back by scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning, but
Karley Green would record the final out to limit the damage and secure the win. Game two began with two scoreless innings. After Lock Haven got on the board with a run in the 3rd, NGU quickly responded to take the lead in the 4th with three runs. The Bald Eagles cut the deficit to one with a run in the 6th, but NGU responded with an insurance run in the 7th when
Maddie Stone connected for a home run to left field.
Sydney Clark would allow a leadoff walk, but a double play followed by a strike out would retire the side to record the win.
Emily Dawson posted four hits for the day including a double as well as three runs and two RBIs.
Karley Green pitched 7.0 innings, striking out four and allowing five earned runs on nine hits, three walks, and a hit batter.
Sydney Clark also pitched 7.0 innings, striking out eight while allowing just one earned run, four hits, and two walks.
North Greenville will face Lock Haven and UVA Wise again tomorrow, beginning at 2:00 PM.
