Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers began the 2025 season with a doubleheader split with the Jaguars of Augusta University, falling in game one with a final score of 10-5 but bouncing back to win game two with a final score of 4-2 at Jan McDonald Field. After Augusta was able to get on the board in the 1st by way of a two-run home run, NGU responded with five runs in the next three innings including solo home runs by
Maddie Stone and Lexi Metcalf to take a 5-2 lead. However, the Jaguars went on to score the final eight runs of the game throughout the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings to go on to win by five.
Owyen Lyall took the loss as the pitcher of record. Game two proved to be a pitchers' dual. After Augusta took a 1-0 lead in the 3rd, NGU tied things up in the 4th with an RBI single by
Emily Blackwell. One inning later,
Virginia Bishop connected for a home run off the foul pole to take a 3-1 lead.
Ali Hartin increased the lead with an RBI single in the 6th. Augusta fought back with a run in the 7th, but
Sydney Clark was able to retire the final out to hang on for the win.
Karley Green finished the day with four hits.
Emily Blackwell posted three hits, two stolen bases, two RBIs, and a run scored.
Virginia Bishop recorded a home run, three walks, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
NGU will return to action on Tuesday, February 4th to take on the Trojans of Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina.
