Tigerville – North Greenville locked up the regular season Division Championship on Saturday afternoon with a 3 – 2, 4 – 3 sweep of Young Harris at Jan McDonald Field.
The Crusaders trailed until the bottom of the sixth inning of game one after a first inning homer by the Lions gave YHC a 2 – 0 lead. The Crusaders scratched across their first run of the game on an
Ansley Fowler bunt single that brought home
Karley Green. Emily Dawsom would come through with the eventual game winner in her next at bat with a double in the left field corner. The hit would bring around Fowler and pinch runner
McKenna Pry to make it 3 – 2.
Karley Green set down the Mount Lions in order in the top half of the seventh to secure her 21
st win of the season. Green allowed just five hits and two runs in the winning effort.
Emily Dawson finished 2 – 3 with two RBI in the game.
Virginia Bishop was also 2 – 3.
North Greenville took the lead in the second game with a two run first of its own.
Karley Green doubled in a run while
Lexie Gunter's RBI single made it 2 – 0. Young Harris cut the lead to one run in the fourth inning with an RBI single. The Mountain Lions took the lead in the seventh inning with an RBI single and a double that made it 3 – 2 with three outs left.
North Greenville once again came up with late inning heroics to secure the sweep.
Lexis Wilkinson set the table for North Greenville with a two – single while advancing to second on a throwing error. Wilkson would come around to score on a left field double from
Emily Blackwell on the next at bat. The final blow of the game came from
Ali Hartin who hammered double in to right center field which would score Blackwell from second.
Emily Blackwell led North Greenville with three – hits in four at bats. She finished with two runs scored and an RBI.
Ali Hartin was 1 – 4 with the game winning hit.
Lexis Wilkinson finished 1 – 3 with a run scored.
