Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders began the conference season with a 7-1 win against the Tornado of King University this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. NGU finished the afternoon with seven runs on eight hits and two errors committed by the Tornado while
Reece Fields pitched a gem to record his 4th win of the season. North Greenville took an early 1-0 lead in the 1st when
Dakota Britt brought in
Zach Cowart who hit a triple earlier in the inning. Things would remain the same until the 5th when an error ultimately allowed four unearned runs for the Crusaders including a two-RBI triple by
David Lewis. King would get on the board in the 7th by way of a solo shot, but NGU quickly responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning by way of a two-RBI double by
Bryce Roddey.
Kadan Roach pitched the final two innings to secure the win for the Crusaders.
Zach Cowart posted a triple, a double, and 2Â runs scored.
David Lewis finished with a triple of his own as well as 2 RBIs and 2 walks. Reecee Fields pitched 7.0 innings, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and 0 walks while striking out 9.
NGU and King will play a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at noon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field.
