North Greenville Wins Twice to Advance to Southeast Super Regional

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders have advanced to the NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional after defeating the Mount Olive Trojans twice this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field with a game one final score of 11-5 and a game two score of 9-2. After allowing a run in the top of the first, NGU took an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the inning including a two-RBI double by Andrew Kaminsky. The Crusaders would add to their lead int he bottom of the third with another three runs. David Lewis would add a run of his own in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single. Mount Olive would get two runs in the top of the fifth, but NGU would respond with solo shots by Bryce Roddey and Cory Bivins in the bottom of the inning. Carter Dierdorf would extend the lead even further in the bottom of the seventh with a two run home run. UMO would get two more runs in the top of the eighth, but North Greenville would ultimately hang on for the victory. Brody Fowler was the winning pitcher, starting the game and pitching seven strong innings. Game two began with Mount Olive once again jumping out to an early lead as they would get a run on the board in the first. In the top of the third, North Greenville took the lead with a two-RBI single to left field. That was followed by an RBI groundout by Marek Chlup. Jalen Vasquez would provide the only home run of game two in the top of the fourth. Carter Dierdorf then hit an RBI single to right center to extend the lead to four. Mount Olive was able to get a run on the board in the fifth by way of an RBI single. After three scoreless innings, NGU would put the game on ice with a four run top of the ninth including a two-RBI double by Marek Chlup and a two-RBI single by David Lewis. Nate Roof, who pitched the final 2.2 innings, retired the final batter to secure the Regional win for NGU. Michael Rodriguez was the winning pitcher.
