North Greenville narrowly fell short in both games this afternoon in Pembroke, North Carolina, starting with a classic that ended in an 11-10 loss and a 3-0 loss on a windy afternoon against UNC Pembroke. Game one proved to be a classic as both teams would claim the lead twice throughout the game. NGU led 4-0 going into the bottom of the third, but a grand slam by UNCP would tie things back up. They would then take the lead in the bottom of the fourth. The Crusaders would shot off their power at the plate in the top of the sixth with a two run home run by
Brianna McRae followed by a solo shot by
Virginia Bishop and another solo home run by
Ali Hartin to take an 8-5 lead. However, the Braves would once again respond in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. After a scoreless seventh, Hartin would get North Greenville the lead with a two run double, but UNC Pembroke would yet again come through in the bottom of the inning with a walk off three run home run for the win.
Karley Green was charged with the loss. Runs were at a premium in game two. NGU posted five hits throughout the game but were unable to get a run on the board. UNCP was able to get on the board in the fifth with a two run home run followed by a solo shot in the sixth.
Maddie Gore was charged with the loss.
