Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders were able to complete the weekend sweep with a 7-0 win followed by a 6-3 victory in a doubleheader against the 13th ranked UNC Pembroke Braves this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. With the sweep, NGU has distanced themselves in the Conference Carolinas standings, currently holding a .944 conference winning percentage. NGU took game one with four extra base hits including a home run by
David Lewis as well as a gem of the pitching performance by
Reece Fields, who pitched a seven inning shutout and took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. UNC Pembroke took an early lead to start off game two, scoring a run in the first and a run in the second. NGU responded with a run in the third then took the lead with four runs in the fifth. UNCP bounced back with a run in the sixth, but NGU made up for the run with one of their own in the seventh. Michael Rodriguez pitched the final three innings, not allowing a run and securing the win for NGU.
