North Greenville Completes Sweep of Nationally Ranked UNC Pembroke

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders were able to complete the weekend sweep with a 7-0 win followed by a 6-3 victory in a doubleheader against the 13th ranked UNC Pembroke Braves this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. With the sweep, NGU has distanced themselves in the Conference Carolinas standings, currently holding a .944 conference winning percentage. NGU took game one with four extra base hits including a home run by David Lewis as well as a gem of the pitching performance by Reece Fields, who pitched a seven inning shutout and took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. UNC Pembroke took an early lead to start off game two, scoring a run in the first and a run in the second. NGU responded with a run in the third then took the lead with four runs in the fifth. UNCP bounced back with a run in the sixth, but NGU made up for the run with one of their own in the seventh. Nate Rook and Michael Rodriguez pitched the final three innings, not allowing a run and securing the win for NGU. Brody Fowler was the winning pitched while Michael Rodriguez earned the save.
