North Greenville Advances to Championship Round with One-Sided Victory Over Mount Olive

The North Greenville Crusaders will play for another Conference Carolinas Tournament championship as NGU has advanced to the championship series by defeating the Mount Olive Trojans with a final score of 17-1 after a long night in Wilson, North Carolina. Rain earlier in the day delayed the start of the game until 10:15 PM. The matchup would go on to last over four hours. After two scoreless inning to kick things off, the Crusaders would get on the scoreboard with three runs in the 3rd including a two-run double by Zach Zarra. UMO would get on the scoreboard in the 5th by way of an RBI single to right field. North Greenville would begin to pull away in the 7th and run away with things from there, scoring four in the 7th, five in the 8th, and five in the 9th. Although both teams committed three errors each, NGU dominated the other two columns, posting seventeen runs and thirteen hits while allowing just one run and four hits. Starter Noah Takac took the win by pitching 6.2 strong innings, allowing just one run on three hits and four walks while striking out nine. Nate Roof would come in to relieve Takac in the 7th, pitching 1.1 innings with just a walk allowed. With the game in hand, Noah Ingle would close things out on the mount, pitching a shutout 9th inning and allowing just one hit. With the win, North Greenville has advanced to the championship series and will play the winner of an elimination game between Mount Olive and UNC Pembroke.
