After this past weekend's dramatic ending against UNC Pembroke, the North Greenville Crusaders took a step back this afternoon with 11-5 and 9-4 losses to the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. The Crusaders held a small lead in both games but were unable to hang on to them. NGU showed up its offensive power in game one with home runs by
Claire Gilmore,
Brianna McRae, and
Virginia Bishop. However, just two other hits would be recorded throughout the game as North Greenville was limited to just five total hits and seven walks.
Bailey Pace pitched a complete game but allowed eleven earned runs and received the loss. The bats slightly improved in game two with seven total hits along with the help of seven walks and three errors. After four scoreless innings to start off game two,
Claire Gilmore would record her second home run of the day to get NGU on the board with two runs, but Lees-McRae would quickly respond with four runs in the 5th and five runs in the 6th. The Crusaders would put up a fight in the 7th including an RBI double by
Jenna Hewes, but would manage just two runs to cut the final deficit to five.
Hailey Wells was the losing pitcher.
