Crusaders Suffer First Loss of Season to Barton

North Greenville was unable to hang on to the lead this afternoon in Wilson, North Carolina, dropping a conference matchup to the Barton Bulldogs with a final score of 3-2. The Crusaders led two different times, but was unable to hang on to either one for very long as the Bulldogs would quickly respond with an equalizer. With less than thirteen minutes remaining in the 2nd half, Barton would score what would go on to become the winning goal. Faith Knoedler scored both of NGU's goals.

Recap
  • NGU would be the aggressors in the 1st half, getting off twelve shots compared to Barton's five. Less than fifteen minutes in, Faith Knoedler would find the back of the net to give NGU a 1-0 lead. However, that lead would last only twelve minutes as the Bulldogs would respond with a goal of their own. Knoedler would take six of North Greenville's twelve shots in the half, but the half would come to an end tied at 1-1.
  • Less than ten minutes into the 2nd half, Knoedler would strike again with an assist by Kayla Cruze to get the lead back for the Crusaders. Just over fifteen minutes later, Barton would respond once again with a game-tying goal. Late in the half, BC would shock the Crusaders with a goal from 35 yards out that bounce off the crossbar and into the goal. The Crusaders would fail to record a shot as Barton would hang on for the win.
