Tigerville, SC - North Greenville baseball opened up its second conference series of the season by splitting a doubleheader with the Flying Fleet of Erskine College this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. The Crusader bats were mostly silent during the first game of the series with the exception of two solo home runs. Game two proved to be a different story as NGU would score 7 runs on 12 hits.

Douglas Angeli collected three hits each while
Zach Taglieri threw five perfect innings in his start.

- After a leadoff hit by the Flying Fleet to begin the opening game of the series, the next batter would quickly get Erskine on the board with a two run home run. The score would remain the same until the bottom of the 5th when Douglas Angeli knocked a home run to left field, putting NGU on the board 2-1. A sacrifice fly in the top of the 7th would put the Flying Fleet back up by two. Marek Chlup would close the gap back up with a solo shot to right center, but NGU was unable to get the tying run across the plate, ultimately falling short in the opening game.
- North Greenville would quickly get on the board to begin game two as Ethan Stringer would hit a home run to left center. An additional two runs would score in the bottom of the 2nd with a two run home run by Jordan Holladay. In the bottom of the 5th, NGU would add two more runs in the bottom of the 5th by way of RBI singles by Ethan Stringer and Marek Chlup. Starter Zach Taglieri pitched a perfect game through five innings, but the Flying Fleet put an end to his bid with a bunt single down the third base line. They would follow that up with a two run shot to left field to pull back within three. However, that deficit would quickly be widened back up as John Michael Faile would score an RBI double to left center while Jordan Holladay would also hit to left center with an RBI single. The Indians would get two runners on in the top of the 9th to attempt a comeback, but a double play would end the game to five the Crusaders the series-evening win.
Individual
- Zach Taglieri put together a brilliant outing, pitching 5 perfect innings in his start. He went on to be the winning pitcher in game two.
- Marek Chlup recorded 3 hits, 2 runs scored, 2 RBIs and a walk.
- Ethan Stringer also posted 3 hits including a double and a home run.
