Salem, VA – The indoor track and field season kicked of this weekend headlined by several personal bests and event winners at the Bast-Cregger invitational at Roanoke College. 
 
On the women's side, Tiara Cox set a school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.90-seconds. The True Freshman finished third overall. Hannah Hill tacked on a 2^nd place finish in the 200-meter. Briley Arnold took home third in the 800 while Olivia Husky finished second in the high jump. 

Hannah Hill earned the win in the women's 400-meter, finishing with a time of 2:00 minutes. 
 
For the men, Bailey Crowe and Tristan Parker added personal bests in the men's shotput with distances of 11.67 and 10.08 meters. Jordan Meekins added a personal best in both the 60 and 200 meter races with times of seven seconds and 22.82 seconds. 
 
Meekins also won the men's high jump with a height of 1.95-meters. Other event winners for the men included Gray McIntyer who won the 800-meter with a time of two minutes, and CJ McFerrin who won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.34 seconds. 
 
The men's 4x4 relay team also brought home the win with a time of 3:28.87.

On the men's side, Jordan Meekins had a great weekend. He won the high jump while setting a new PB. He also ran really well in the 60 and 200, setting PB's in those events. Antavious Lawton had a solid collegiate opener. His 22.49 in the 200 was really impressive. He also finished 4th in the 400 and anchored our men's 4x400 relay to a win. Damon Worley had a an impressive collegiate opener. He jumped well in both the pole vault and high jump…setting a new PB in the high jump and hitting the conference standard. Gray McIntyre opened his college career with a win the 500 and a third place finish in the 800. He also ran a leg on the men's 4x4 relay. CJ McFerrin is another freshman that we are really excited about. In his first ever collegiate meet, he won the 60 hurdles and was also a leg for our men's 4x4 relay. I thought Tarrence Ketter ran really well in his three events (200, 400, and 4x4).
 
On the women's side, we had a couple of freshmen really standout. Hannah Hill had an extremely impressive collegiate opener. She won the 400, finished 2nd in the 200, and ran a fantastic anchor leg for our women's 4x4. Tiara Cox also had a tremendous collegiate opener. She broke the school record (twice) in the women's 60 and finished third overall in that event. Jordan Hagood had a good showing in the triple jump. In her season opener she was only 4 centimeters off of a lifetime PB. Returners Olivia Huskey finished 2nd in the high jump, and Briley Arnold finished 3rd in the 800. 
 
It really was a great season opener for our team. This year is the 10th year that we have had Track and Field and NGU. We are referring to this year's team as "Team X" to celebrate this milestone in our program's history. I'm excited about the potential that Team X has. We look forward to competing in January with a full squad."
 
The Crusaders will be back on the track in 2022 when they head to Columbia on January 14^th at the University of South Carolina.
