2018 Season Comes to an End After Comeback Falls Short Against Barton

Tigerville, SC - The #2 seed North Greenville Crusaders were stunned by the #7 seed Barton Bulldogs with a final score of 2-1. Barton scored a goal in the first half as well as a goal in the second. NGU score a goal late in the match, but was unable to connect for the game-tying goal. Michaela Gleed scored the lone goal for North Greenville.

1st Half

After a calm start to the match, Barton was able to get on the board when Laisy Scardazzi scored her 7th goal of the season off a cross by Rebekah Beal. NGU spent the remainder of the half dominating in shots including headers by Michaela Gleed and Megan Biehl, but would come up empty. The Crusaders led in shots 10 to 1 in the first half.

2nd Half

The action certainly picked up in the second half. BC added to their lead with a goal by Syaani Harris, her 7th of the season. Shortly after, Barton's Laura Franco would be charged with a yellow card. North Greenville would put up most of the shots in the half once again, but would continue to remain scoreless. That finally changed in the 87th minute when Michaela Gleed scored her 4th goal of the season with assists by Karly Denaburg and Asheton Robinson. Gleed would get another opportunity in the final minute, but her shot ended up wide right, and time would run out for the Crusaders in 2018. Both teams put up six shots in the half.

Individual

Michaela Gleed scored her 4th goal of the season. She ended her junior season scoring a goal in four consecutive matches.

Megan Biehl recorded 4 shots with 2 on goal.

Asheton Robinson played all 90 minutes. She put up 3 shots and recorded an assist.
