Tigerville, S.C. – Willis Holliday earned his first win as a collegiate head coach and the Crusaders snapped an eight-game skid with an 87-83 win over Benedict College in double overtime.

How it Happened

• The Crusaders took the lead less than two minutes into the game and held on to it until late in the game.
• The Tigers gained a small one-point edge in the second but Ayano Shelton snatched it back for North Greenville on the next possession.
• The Crusaders would take a 15-point, 39-24 lead into intermission.
• North Greenville stayed in front until scored on two straight possessions to take a 57-55 lead.
• The lead ballooned to four points but Karen Donehew knocked down a pair of free throws and a lay-up in the final 42-seconds to send the game into overtime.
• Fouls marred the first overtime period with just two field goals scored between the two teams.
• Neither team was able to find any separation until late in the second overtime period. Cameron Carter would knock down a lay-up and add a few free throws to give NGU an 87-73 win.

The Good Guys

• Karen Donehew led all players with 26-points and had team-high nine rebounds. She also tacked on four steals and a pair of blocks.
• Carter finished the night with 23-points off the bench for the Crusaders.
• Ayano Shelton and Savannah Hughes had 13 and 10 points respectively.

The Other Team

• Ay’Anna Bey led the Tigers with 21-points and 11-rebounds to account for the game’s only double-double.
• Ayanna Armstead was next for Benedict with 19-points and seven rebounds while Shannon Owens had 10-points.

Next Time Out

• The Crusaders will take their Christmas break before returning to the court on December 29th to take on East Tennessee State at 6 pm in Johnson City, Tennessee.
